Former college athlete, Brandon Sweeney grew up fatherless in the inner city of Akron, OH. He chose to pursue a dream of playing in the NFL to escape the traps of the inner city.
Along his journey, Brandon was met with insurmountable obstacles. The biggest obstacle was his promising athletic career being abruptly cut short
Brandon ultimately discovered that God had a purpose and plan beyond football. He started working with youth and families in the inner city as a Mental Health Counselor.
He eventually saw a greater need in education and coaching. Upon going to schools to meet with some of the youth he counseled. Teachers had problems dealing with them and providing structure.
Coach Sween got his teaching certificate and starting coaching football and track in order to teach leadership, social emotional skills, and life skills to young men.
Recognized for his leadership, influence and impact on youth, He received the Teacher Of The Year Award, become a Classroom Culture Specialist, and Athletic Director.
